Humectant Hexametaphosphate

Food Grade

1. SHMP functions as a water-binding agent, aiding in moisture retention in processed meats like sausages and ham. This enhances the product's juiciness and texture, extending shelf life while preventing dehydration.

2. In processed meat and seafood products, SHMP assists in emulsification, helping ingredients that wouldn't normally mix, like fats and water, to stay combined. This improves product stability and appearance.

3. SHMP is used in cheese manufacturing to regulate the calcium content, affecting the cheese's texture, melting properties, and stretchiness. It also prevents calcium from interfering with proteins, improving the cheese's consistency.

Industrial grade

1. SHMP is employed in water treatment processes as a sequestering agent. It binds to metal ions in water, preventing their adverse effects on water quality, such as scale formation and corrosion in pipes and equipment.
